I sold one shawl in the event in June 2020. And guess who my new client turned out to be? A French lady with a soft corner for India and enjoys wearing shawls and scarves.
She’s travelled extensively in India and was keen to buy some there. The dubious quality of shawls, pushy salespeople she encountered, put her off from purchasing anything. Being aware of this unpleasant reality, I have always created Labonie around product transparency, quality of stoles. It is a brand that connects the customer with the rich cultural heritage and skilled artisans – the hands that bring together the Labonie collections.
This is a high standard and it would be very tough to sustain this, if it didn’t resonate with my values and who I am. A self-driven person, I love bringing peoples’ energies into my product. Labonie is a community about craftspeople and you.
That gives every shawl a unique story! Why?
That’s because an artisan’s work, thoughts and feelings go into it and when you wear it, you are including it in your special moments.
A self-driven person, my values and enthusiasm with Labonie truly paid off. She loved her scarf, it’s quality and craftsmanship, and wanted to collaborate with me! Labonie found an enthusiastic host and I made a wonderful friend in you, Jutta!
Neither of us knew at this point that our collaboration was on its way to becoming a reality very soon.
Covid restrictions had eased up and I planned our family holiday in the French countryside near Paris so we could be away from crowds, while still able to go and see Eiffel Tower, with our three children. A week to go and we get an email from booking.com that our reservation is cancelled! I was so dejected. But I wasn’t giving up and sat at my laptop. literally drew a circle around Paris and following my instinct, chose a Reims!
It turned out to be a holiday filled with so much fun for the kids and us and GUESS WHAT???
The entrepreneur in me reached out to Jutta to enquire if she was living somewhere close to Reims and if she was, would she like to see some Labonie’s. Turns out that she lived 15 minutes away from our holiday apartment! She was delighted at my suggestion and offered to host me for a live exhibition!!
I felt such immense gratitude to the Universe for creating this beautiful holiday and business opportunity for me! And also acknowledged myself for stepping out of my comfort zone to reach out to people!

I look back with gratitude at the abundance of joy and success that the universe sent my way. Acknowledging all the tiny steps I chose to take to overcome my mindset made me aware that so many times, it’s we who literally come in our own way!!
